A few things to keep in mind

01
When to schedule each session
Session Timing
Maternity
Best between 29 – 34 weeks where bump is beautifully rounded and mum is still comfortable.
A session takes about 2 – 2.5 hours, including outfit changes and breaks. I don’t impose a strict cut-off, so the session may run slightly longer when needed.
Newborn
Best within 7 – 12 days of arrival where baby is most sleepy and poseable in this window. A session duration depends on the package tier.
The pace is baby-led and relaxed, with time for feeding, resting and settling whenever needed. Some poses may take a few attempts, and the session may run a little longer depending on how settled our little model is. View newborn photography rates and details

02
Makeup & hairdo
Do you provide makeup and hairdo services?
I don’t provide makeup services directly, but I work with several talented makeup artists specialising in maternity photography. I’m happy to recommend them and help coordinate your makeup session with your photoshoot.
Is professional makeup and hairdo necessary?
While professional makeup and hairdo isn’t required for a maternity photoshoot, it can help you feel more confident in front of the camera. If you prefer to do your own makeup, I recommend going slightly more defined than your everyday look, particularly around the eyes, brows and lips, so your features remain naturally defined in photographs.

03
Kids & family members
Can I include my kids(s) in the session?
Absolutely! Children are welcome to join the session for family photographs. An additional fee of $60 applies when including children beyond the standard maternity session.

What is a Setting?
Each maternity setting= 1 unique outfit + 1 unique decor arrangement.

05
Newborn · How it’s counted
What is a Style?
Each newborn “style” represents a unique creative direction. A new style is counted when we transition to a new setup or focus, including:
Props changes: Moving between setups (e.g., basket, crate, bucket, or beanbag).
Wardrobe transition: A change in outfit or a distinct new wrap style.
Subject focus: Dedicated sibling portraits.
Detailed focus: “Macro” detail shots (close-ups of lashes, lips, ears, and profile).

Newborn · Good to know
What goes into a set of family portraits?
This segment typically includes:
Family group portraits
Individual portraits of Mum with Baby
Individual portraits of Dad with Baby
* We typically capture approximately 7 – 8 pose variations during this segment.

Signature Style vs Hand-Retouched
Every image is finished to my signature style. Hand-retouching goes further – treating specific areas of an image individually, so unaffected areas are left untouched.
Signature Style · Every image
Color grading
Overall image exposure adjustment
White balance restoration
Individually Hand-Retouched · In addition to the above
Uneven skin tone adjustment
Skin flakes reduction

FAQ

Maternity Outfit

Are the maternity dresses provided?

Yes! I provide a curated collection of about 10 maternity dresses and gowns (and it’s constantly growing!) for your maternity photoshoot. These pieces are specially selected to complement my rustic bohemian-style home studio decor, ensuring your photos have a cohesive aesthetic. The collection includes both belly-baring styles and more covered options, ranging from bold statement pieces to conservative, elegant designs. This variety ensures there’s something perfect for every personality and comfort level, all while flowing naturally with the warm, earthy tones and textures of the space.

Do you have maternity dresses that don't expose the belly?

We understand that some individuals may have reservations about exposing their bellies, we do have regular maternity dresses that don’t expose the belly area.

What are the sizes of the maternity dresses?

The sizes of the dresses range from Free size – Medium size. Most of the dresses are stretchable which makes fitting easy.

Can I bring my own maternity dresses?

After all, you know best what suits you. While you’re welcome to get your own maternity dresses, I would like to suggest that you show them to me first before placing an order. As much as possible, we want something that goes well with the decor.

Preparation/ Misc

How do I book a session?

Upon confirmation, a deposit amount of $180 will be required to secure a session slot. Meadow Lullabies is flexible with switching dates, subject to availability.

What do we need to prepare?

  • Inner-wear: The maternity outfits come in an array of colors including white, army green, dusty pink, and khaki. To complement these outfits, it is advisable to select complementary inner-wear for a coordinated and put-together look. Opt for colors such as beige, white, dusty pink, or black for your lingerie. A suggested choice would be a matching lacey bralette paired with either panties or safety tights for a cohesive look. This becomes particularly crucial if your chosen attire exposes your belly or features translucent fabrics. Additionally, for off-shoulder dresses, it’s advisable to consider strapless bras for a seamless look. To ensure versatility and flexibility in styling, it’s wise to bring along a variety of lingerie designs.
  • Hairdo: During the photoshoot, there may be poses where you’re required to bend your head slightly downward and face the camera from the side. To ensure your facial features are visible in these poses, it’s recommended to communicate with your makeup artist (MUA) or hairstylist about styling your hair accordingly.
Ask your MUA to create a hairstyle that keeps the sides of your face open and doesn’t obstruct your features when you tilt your head downward. This way, you can maintain a clear view of your face and showcase your natural beauty from all angles.
  • Husband’s outfit: To match the overall theme of the shoot, plain light neutral-toned apparel such as white, light pink, brown, khaki, grey is recommended. A classic pair-up will be a loose white casual shirt and khaki color pants. Try to avoid outfits that appears too formal or contains distracting graphics or text.
  • Hairpins (optional)
  • Hair gel/wax/spray (optional)
  • Makeup (optional)
  • Baby apparel such as rompers/ socks (optional)
  • Custom-made items such as baby birth announcement signboards/ letterboards (optional)
  • Ultrasound scans (optional)
