What is the best time frame for a maternity photo shoot?
The best time will be between 32 – 35 weeks where your belly begins to develop more of a nice round shape that’s perfect for showing off in photos. Some clients choose to do the shoot in the 30th week which is fine too.
How long will the session take?
A session typically takes approximately 2 – 2.5 hours. This excludes outfit changes, breaks, and refreshment periods, which may extend the overall appointment.
Can my kid(s) join in the shoot?
Absolutely! We love including children in maternity sessions. Kids often add such natural joy and sweetness to the photos, whether they’re gently touching mom’s belly, giving kisses, or simply being their adorable selves. We can capture beautiful family moments together, and if the little ones get restless, we’re completely flexible about taking breaks or letting them play nearby while we focus on some solo shots of you.
Are the maternity dresses provided?
Yes! I provide a curated collection of about 10 maternity dresses and gowns (and it’s constantly growing!) for your maternity photoshoot. These pieces are specially selected to complement my rustic bohemian-style home studio decor, ensuring your photos have a cohesive aesthetic. The collection includes both belly-baring styles and more covered options, ranging from bold statement pieces to conservative, elegant designs. This variety ensures there’s something perfect for every personality and comfort level, all while flowing naturally with the warm, earthy tones and textures of the space.
Do you have maternity dresses that don't expose the belly?
We understand that some individuals may have reservations about exposing their bellies, we do have regular maternity dresses that don’t expose the belly area.
What are the sizes of the maternity dresses?
The sizes of the dresses range from Free size – Medium size. Most of the dresses are stretchable which makes fitting easy.
How many maternity dresses can I change?
You may change up to 2 dresses for the shoot.
Can I bring my own maternity dresses?
After all, you know best what suits you. While you’re welcome to get your own maternity dresses, I would like to suggest that you show them to me first before placing an order. As much as possible, we want something that goes well with the decor.
Do you provide makeup services?
I don’t provide makeup services directly, but I work with several talented makeup artists who specialize in makeup and hairdo for maternity photography. I’m happy to recommend these artists and can assist in arranging your makeup session to coordinate with your maternity photoshoot timing.
Do I need professional makeup?
While professional makeup isn’t required for a maternity photoshoot, it can enhance your photos and help you feel more confident. If you prefer to do your own makeup, I recommend slightly more dramatic application than usual since camera lighting can wash out subtle makeup.
How do I book a session?
Upon confirmation, a deposit amount of $180 will be required to secure a session slot. Meadow Lullabies is flexible with switching dates, subject to availability.
What do we need to prepare?
What outfit should my husband put on?
To match the overall theme of the shoot, plain light neutral-toned apparel such as white, light pink, brown, khaki, grey is recommended. A classic pair-up will be a loose white casual shirt and khaki color pants. Try to avoid outfits that appear too formal or contains distracting graphics or text.
We have bought a few items for my baby and would like to incorporate them into the shoot.
Sure, you’re welcome to bring them along. Here are a few suggestions:
What is the studio's decor like?
Embracing soft neutral-toned colors, our minimalistic nature-inspired home studio is furnished with Nordic and boho influence in mind which brings about a rustic yet modern touch.
What is the difference between basic retouch and a full retouch?
A basic retouch covers the following:
A full retouch covers the following in addition to the basic retouch:
In most parts, retouching is localized which treats a specific area of an image such that unaffected areas can be left untouched. See blog post The Art of Retouching: The Key to Stunning Newborn Photos.
How do I receive the images?
Your images will be uploaded to a private gallery where you can view and select the photos for the full retouch. When the full retouch photos are completed, a download link will be sent to you. The downloadable set will also include the photos with basic retouch.
When can I expect the pictures?
Typically, it takes anywhere between 2-4 weeks from the session day, picture selections to sending of the final edits.
