A few things that
make all the difference

Timing your session

Newborn sessions are best held within 7–12 days of arrival — when babies are naturally sleepiest and most cooperative for those curled-up poses. We recommend booking as early as 6 months before your due date, as window slots fill quickly.

🎨

What counts as a styling

A new styling begins with a meaningful change — a different prop setup (basket, crate, bucket), a new wrap or outfit, sibling portraits, or a macro detail segment. Family portrait time is separate and doesn't count toward your styling total.

Your image deliverables

Your fully retouched images receive complete post-processing — skin tone, texture, shadows, backdrop. Remaining images come with a basic edit covering exposure and white balance. All delivered in high-resolution JPEG. RAW files not provided.

How the session works

Family portraits

Family time is its own segment — not counted as a styling. It covers full family group portraits, Mum with baby, and Dad with baby, typically 7–8 pose variations in all.

Session duration

Packages indicate a starting duration, but sessions run as long as they need to. Feeding breaks, soothing, and diaper changes are part of the process — there's no extra charge for extended time.

Poses & safety

Some poses look precarious but are achieved through composite techniques or with a spotter present. Your baby's comfort always comes first — if a pose isn't working, we move on without hesitation.

Props & wardrobe

All props, wraps, outfits and backdrops are provided — neutral-toned, vintage and rustic in character. Every fabric is washed with baby-friendly detergent between sessions. Your own pieces are welcome too.

Questions

How do I book, and when should I reach out? +

A deposit of $180 secures your session. Because your due date is variable, we soft-book around your EDD. Send a message on the day of or day before delivery and we'll confirm your slot. For planned caesarean deliveries, we can set a definite date in advance. We recommend reaching out at least 6 months before your EDD — the 7–12 day window fills early.

How long should I expect to be here? +

Anywhere from 3 to 4.5 hours depending on your package, though it can stretch naturally. Newborns set the pace — feeding, settling, and posing all take time, and that's completely fine. There's no surcharge for an extended session.

What should we bring on the day? +

At least 4 feeds of formula or expressed milk (plus breastfeeding as needed)
4+ diapers, burp cloth, baby wipes, small blanket
A pacifier — it can be a lifesaver for settling during poses
Easy-to-remove outfit for baby (avoid over-the-head pulls)
Light, neutral tones for parents — white, beige, khaki, or denim work well

Our studio has a bottle warmer, steam sterilizer, changing pad, and nursing cover on hand.

What if my baby won't settle? +

Completely normal. Moving babies for poses disturbs their sleep, and some resist more than others. We pause whenever needed, try feeds, a pacifier if parents are comfortable, or simply wait. A single pose can sometimes take up to an hour — and that's okay. The goal is great photos, not a rushed checklist.

What's the difference between a full retouch and a basic edit? +

A basic edit covers overall exposure and white balance correction. A full retouch goes further — skin tone evening, flake reduction, skin smoothing, shadow refining, and backdrop cleanup. The fully retouched count is your package's headline number; the rest of your images come basic-edited in high resolution.

When will I receive my images? +

Images are uploaded to a private gallery for your selection. Final edits are typically delivered within 2–4 weeks. Your download link includes both fully retouched and basic-edited images.

Can the shoot happen at our home? +

Yes — we'll bring the studio to you. A home session fee applies. Get in touch and we'll work out the details together.

What happens in a medical emergency or unexpected circumstances? +

We can postpone or arrange a home visit (home call fee of $150 applies), subject to availability. If you're unfit for an extended period, we'll review supporting documentation together and find the best path forward.
